We had the best freakin' time at the zoo the other day, and I can not tell you how awesome the new Cat House is.  They have their habitat, and there is just a really thick piece of glass separating the visitors from it.  Someone told me that when a little kid stands near the glass the cats think they're prey, so they sometimes pounce.  Jamie was looking at the mountain lions, and one came right over and sat right in front of him:

They checked one another out for a bit, and the mountain lion walked away.  After a minute, Jamie walked away, and the cat came sprinting up and pounced on the glass right next to him! Awesome!


After a few laps, he jumped up and batted at the glass, with his claws unsheathed, right in front of my mother, and then again on a man standing a few kids down.  It was just amazing.

I have two finals today, and one on Wednesday. and then I'm done. Done, done, done! Then I can relax and drink. Drink, drink, drink. For a few weeks.

Can I just tell y’all how ridiculously happy it made me to catch the train at my usual stop? It made me so, so, happy! I was like a sixteen year old who was giving the keys to the car for the first time.

I was sent a copy of the syllabus for the class I’m taking over winter break. Did I tell you guys about that? I think not, so here goes…I’m taking a three credit, five-day class over break. It’s on AIDS in America, and I’m really glad I got into it. It’s worth the same amount as a regular semester’s sixteen-week course, but it’s only for five days (from January second through the eighth). I’ll be there all day, but after seeing the syllabus I’m not stressed about it at all. We have to journal every night about what we got from the days class, how we’d feel if we found out someone we knew had HIV, and that kind of thing, we have to give a group presentation, and we have a final. That’s all so manageable! I figure even if it’s crazy hard, it’s only for a week, and then I’ll graduate in the fall of 2009, instead of the spring of 2010, which feels so much farther away.

I’m off to my dreaded math class. I wish I could pay someone else to take it for me.
